I Thought You Knew

Russel Crowe
Russell Crowe, along with Sean Connery and Samuel L Jackson, was one of the many stars offered the role of Morpheus in The Matrix. The only problem was that Crowe thought the film sucked! "I just didn't get it. I couldn't get past page 42. That world was just not interesting to me," he said.

Other roles Crowe is rumoured to have snubbed include the lead in Oliver Stone's Alexander, roles in the Nick Hornby comedy About A Boy and Black Hawk Down and the part of Wolverine in X-Men.

Perhaps the biggest film that Crowe has ever turned down was the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. The burly actor was originally lined up to play Aaragorn in the Hobbit adventure. However, Crowe ended up choosing to do A Beautiful Mind instead, allowing Viggo Mortensen to take the part.

Craig David
"Six nominations, no Brits for C.D," was David's infamous line at the 2001 Brit Awards, where he was cruelly snubbed six - yes six! - times. Despite being one of the biggest-selling acts of the early '00s, David has still never won a Brit gong. With 12 nominations in total, he can count himself pretty unlucky to have never done so. A1, Basement Jaxx, Ms Dynamite and Lemar are among the acts to have ruined Craig's parade.

Who are Craig's man crushes? A. Brad Pitt and David Beckham. "They're hot, you can't deny it," he admits. "Every guy in the world thinks so."

Give Craig David a football to kick around with and he can compete with the best of them. The popstar took the 'Man Of The Match' title at the 2008 Soccer Aid game, which featured major international footballers such as Alan Shearer, Paolo Di Canio, Teddy Sheringham and David Seaman.

Craig's efforts and impact on the music industry were finally rewarded in 2008 when he was given an honorary degree as Doctor of Music by Southampton Solent University. So show him some respect, people!

Ian Joseph Somerhalder
Ian not only acts, but he also owns a pizza parlour in Idaho with his siblings. In April, he opened a furniture shop called Built of Barnwood with his brother, and they build and sell their own pieces.

Campaigner Somerhalder was very vocal in highlighting the problems caused by the 2010 BP oil spill in the Gulf. He spent his summer off from The Vampire Diaries helping with the clean-up and appeared on Larry King's special two-hour telethon Disaster in The Gulf - How You Can Help.

Ian also spends a lot of time working with environmental charities. He was recently honoured at the Environmental Media Awards for his contributions from his charity The Ian Somerhalder Foundation.

Ian did not graduate from high school because he went to Europe to pursue a modelling career. He has modelled for such companies as Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabanna, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Versace and Guess. He doesn't like talking about his modelling career because he doesn't want people to think that he is just "another pretty face".

10. Despite the internet buzzing about Ian being Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey he is definitely not "desperate" to be the role. As he stated on Twitter in June: "I'm not 'desperate' to do anything except relax today."
